Custom Vocabulary
Improve transcription accuracy and AI notes for names, acronyms, and product terms with a reusable vocabulary list.
Open Settings → General → Custom vocabulary to add people's names, company terms, acronyms, product names, and jargon that frequently appear in your meetings. Separate entries with commas or line breaks:
Sarah Johnson, Kapinote, Qwen3-ASR
PostgreSQL
OAuth 2.0, CI/CDKapinote automatically trims whitespace and deduplicates entries, displaying parsed items as neat tags. Keep each term concise and write it in the exact casing you want reflected in your notes.
Where vocabulary is applied
- AI Notes & Summaries: The saved vocabulary is provided as context when Kapinote generates AI summaries, guiding the model to maintain preferred spelling.
- Deepgram: Passes up to 100 terms (up to 50 characters each) via Keyterm Prompting.
- AssemblyAI: Passes up to 100 terms (up to 50 characters each).
- ElevenLabs: Passes up to 50 terms (up to 20 characters each).
- Apple Speech, Qwen3-ASR, and Soniox: These engines do not currently take dynamic acoustic vocabulary parameters during live capture, but the vocabulary is fully utilized during downstream AI note generation.
If your list exceeds a provider's limits, Kapinote sends only the supported subset to that speech API, while the full list remains available for AI summarization.
Recommended term types
Add terms that are uncommon, easily confused with common homophones, or require exact spelling:
- Full names of colleagues, clients, and partners
- Company brands, internal projects (e.g.,
Project Apollo), and product names - Domain acronyms such as
SLO,ARR,SOC 2, orEBITDA - Technical frameworks and multilingual terminology
Note: Avoid adding generic conversational phrases or long sentences. Custom vocabulary acts as a recognition bias, not an absolute regex replacement.
Troubleshooting unparsed or missed terms
- Verify the term appears as a parsed tag under Settings.
- If the phrase is long, shorten it to its most distinctive words to stay within provider limits.
- Check whether your current speech provider supports live custom vocabulary.
- Record a short test audio speaking the term naturally within a complete sentence.
- Search the transcript directly after meetings to verify critical numbers and proper nouns.
